Rhinoplasty is surgery to change the shape of the nose.
Its purpose is to correct primary defects (birth) or secondary (after trauma or surgery). It can be accompanied by a septoplasty in internal fault (septum).
Rhinoplasty is a delicate operation and requires special surgical skills. The technical difficulties are sometimes very important and complexity of the surgical procedure will be appreciated based on a clinical examination appronfondi. A scanner can come eventually completed it. From the data collected, the surgeon will determine if an improvement is possible.
Rhinoplasty is performed as an outpatient (in and out the same day) or during a short hospital stay (exit the next day). It is typically performed under general anesthesia and lasts between 1 and 3 hours.
The incisions are carried out inside or at the lower part of the nose between the two nostrils in a shadow area. Scars are therefore not visible.
It is then necessary to achieve the correction of any deviation of the nasal septum (septoplasty) and external deformities (rhinoplasty)
The dressing has a small protection on the nose (splint) and when there is significant internal diversion (especially at the wall), it may be necessary to introduce small plastic splints as support inside the nostrils (different wicks whose removal can be painful).
A consultation with Dr. Jeanniot is provided between the 6th and 10th postoperative day to remove or splints.
Possible drawbacks after rhinoplasty are periorbital ecchymosis, edema at the inner region of the eyes and on the sides of the nose and local reduction in sensitivity. They disappear from the 8th day.
Normal activity is possible after 10 to 15 days.
In the first month, it is possible to have a clear idea of the result, given that the nose will continue to evolve throughout the first year. Touch-ups are possible in 6-12 months.
There is no nose "ideal". The purpose of a rhinoplasty is not to create a new nose, but to make it more beautiful and harmonious with your face that you have. The result should be natural.
