Zygomatic implants

Zygomatic implants

General

Dental rehabilitation through placement of zygomatic implants is a recent technique for cancer patients, toothless, with a significant decrease in the volume of the bone of the upper jaw. In this case, it is not possible to use conventionaldentalimplant installation without bonegraft with sometimes significant disadvantages.

The installation of large implant from anchoring in the zygomatic bone (cheekbone) is a solution for patients not wanting the classic technique.

Intervention

The installation of zygomatic implants is usually performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient (in and out the same day).

4-6 implants are positioned through the mouth (no external scar).

The incisions are closed with absorbable sutures.

Postoperative periods

The main disadvantages due to the installation of zygomatic implants can be a pain, localized edema, hematoma.

There is no downtime for the smile is preserved thanks to a temporary prosthesis placed at the end of the intervention.

Our opinion

Dental rehabiliation by zygomatic implants is an excellent therapeutic alternative for patients with a significant decrease in bone volume and can not be installed conventionally.
